Miss Smartypants, a Meltdown, a Walk, and a Baptism

Well it's been a busy week in the life of Kara.  We've been preparing for a bunch of visitors for her baptism.  Dan and I did a lot of work around the house.  Kara's room is almost done!  (And she's only almost 2 months old...haha.)  We'll have to put some "after" pictures up of our house.  But it was SO GREAT to have everyone here to help us celebrate Kara becoming a child of God.

Miss Smartypants

Kara wanted to know what it was like to look through her mom's glasses.  Too bad it made her extremely cross-eyed!

Wearing jeans for the first time.  But Mom had to
alter them by pinning the back and taking in about
3 inches in the waist.
These are NEWBORN pants I can't keep on!

A Meltdown

It was one of those nights where Kara was overtired and wasn't allowing herself to go to sleep.  We decided to put her in her cradle, and see if she would fall asleep there.  After having a meltdown for about 8 minutes - she was quiet.  Upon going to go check on her, we found not only had she scooted herself to the top of the cradle, but she had also managed to pull the corner of her sheet off, and was so pooped, that her arm was hanging out the side.  And that's how she slept... For about 3 hours.

A Walk

Kara's Aunt Deborah was in town, and wanted to take advantage of an afternoon when she could snuggle with Kara without having to share time with anyone ;)  We went for a walk to an ice cream parlor a few blocks away, and just enjoyed some nice relaxing time at home.

Dan surprised me on Thursday with some of my favorite flowers.
What a great surprise!
(And what a great hubby!!!)

I may look like I'm just stretching in my sleep, but no.
I woke up, stretched, and fell asleep mid-stretch.

A Baptism

We're so thankful we have so many people who love us and our little girl so much.  We had lots of  family staying at our house for Kara's baptism, and we were so happy to have you all here!

The church service was a little different than we were used to for a baptism because we had Kara baptized at the hospital before we went home.  Her official baptism is February 10th, 2012.  (She gets to share her baptismal birthday with her Aunt Hannah.)  So in church today we just had a public recognition of her becoming a member of God's family and the St. John family.  After the service, we had everyone over to our house for a luncheon, and all the food was fantastic.  Thanks to everyone who made a long or short trip out to Michigan.  And thanks to everyone who helped out, and made this a very special weekend for all the Ungers and Meinekes.  We love all of you!!!

(Ok, so I don't know how to turn the pictures from Martha's camera on this blog, and I don't know why they showed up sideways.  I hope you don't mind tilting your head or computer for a few of these.)
You know that person you had in your class that really wanted to
be your friend?  That's Hannah... with Dan :)

Aunt Martha and Great Aunt Heide

This was supposed to be their serious pose... Hannah got the memo.
Martha?  Not so much.

Getting ready to walk to Starbucks before church.

Hannah and Martha really want Kara to like Starbucks

Zach, however does NOT want to support the addiction.

Getting ready for church.
Ready for church.  She looked so pretty!

Hmm... I think I've had enough of these pictures.

Yep, Kara's had enough!  No more pictures please.

Thug life.
